Alpha1Strategy in 2023 commemorated the 450th Anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s, Barnet, the secondary school alma mater of Alpha1Strategy Founder Talal Malik, which was founded on March 24, 1573, and today is recognised as one of the best schools in the world. In 2024, Alpha1Strategy will commemorate many anniversaries such as the 400th Anniversary of Pembroke College, University of Oxford, which was founded in 1664, and whose alumni include King Abdullah II of Jordan and Talal Malik of Alpha1Corp; the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Humane Society, the British society dedicated to promoting lifesaving intervention and founded in 1774, which is supposed by Alpha1Corp; and the 75th anniversary of the founding of Hill House International Junior School in Switzerland in 1949, HM King Charles III’s first school as the first heir to the British throne in a millennium to be educated outside the Royal Palace, and the preparatory school of Alpha1Strategy Founder, Talal Malik.

In relation to the major event of 2023, the horrific Palestine-Israel war which broke out in October, Alpha1Strategy Founder Talal Malik in 2000 worked for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Jordan during the 2000 Camp David Summit,  a summit meeting at Camp David between Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat, Israeli Prime minister Ehud Barak and United States President Bill Clinton, which took place between July 11-25, 2000, and marked the last time for nearly a quarter century the two leaders of the conflict in the Holy Land met face to face to discuss an effort to end the Palestine-Israel conflict.

“British author David Fromkin titled his book about the creation of the Modern Middle East a century ago, ‘A Peace to End All Peace’,” which, of great misfortune, still stands true today,” said Talal Malik, Founder of Alpha1Strategy in his first public perspective on the conflict. “From the British Mandate of Palestine more than a century ago, to now 75 years since the creation of Israel, to now 50 years since the 1973 war, to the 40 years since the Oslo Accords, to the near quarter of a century since Camp David II, it was in the last quarter of 2023 that the Palestine-Israel conflict finally became a global social justice issue, and now that it has, will become increasingly critical to resolve at a global level.”

“From my own experience working at UNRWA during Camp David II, and subsequently at Reuters and McKinsey with professional work relating to helping alleviate the conflict, it is manifestly evident that there is a need for a major paradigm shift in how to resolve the conflict. There is a two-sided principle that has characterised this exceptional conflict. The face-side is based on a Latin adage from 5th century Roman author Vegetius in ‘De Re Militari’, “Si vis pacem, para bellum” “If you want peace, prepare for war” and the tails-side is 16th century Florentine political thinker, Machiavelli, in ‘Discourses’, “For although the act condemns the doer, the end may justify him.”

“What is the alternative to the status quo? As American civil rights activist, Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” As part of this long-running conflict, there is a critical need for the uber-use of the word ‘justice’ over ‘peace’, for it is not really a ‘peace’ process being sought, but a ‘just’ process of a journey, with peace being the destination. It is clear that the destination of peace will be difficult to achieve unless it is incubated in an environment which is moral, ethical and fair, the diametrical opposite of the current two-sided principles.

“What does the justice process look like, based on consecutive principles? The 1st principle is to realise, as per the slogan of African Americans in 1986 against racist violence, “There is no peace without justice.” Then, the 2nd principle inverses Vegetius’ Latin adage to be “Sī vis pācem cupis, iūstitiam contende” / “If you want peace, strive for justice.” The 3rd principle inverses Machiavelli’s principle, and harnesses the heroic nature of the October 2021 updated Superman slogan of “Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow” to be “If you want justice, stand for truth.” The 4th principle, “If you want the truth, accept facts” The 5th and final principle is, “A just peace, if not negotiated, may result in it being imposed externally with justice.”
