* January 5 – Saudi Arabia hosts the 41st GCC Summit in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia. (Saudi Arabia)

* January 20 – Joe Biden is scheduled to be inaugurated for a four-year term as the 46th President of the United States. (USA)

February 2021:

February – China’s Tianwen-1 and UAE’s Hope Mars mission aim to arrive on Mars (China, Global)

February 12 – The Chinese New Year begins on as the Year of the Ox. (China)

March 2021:

March – NASA’s Mars Rover is expected to arrive on Mars in the middle of March. (USA, Global)

* March 5 – The 13th National People’s Congress (NPC), the highest organ of state power and the national legislature of the People’s Republic of China, will hold its fourth annual session in Beijing. (China)

March 5-8 – Pope Francis is due to become the first pontiff to visit Iraq. (Global)

March 23 – The Israeli General Elections are scheduled to take place, the fourth Knesset election in 2 years. (Global)

April 2021:

April 12 – The Islamic lunar month of fasting Ramadan begins. (Global)

April 19 – Raúl Castro plans to resign as First Secretary of the Cuban Communist Party, ending 62 years of rule by the Castro brothers in Cuba. (China, Global)

May 2021:

May 6 – The 2020 London Mayoral Election will be held to elect the Mayor of London, with the current incumbent Sadiq Khan, in addition to elections for the London Assembly and other elections in England and Wales. (UK)

May 12 – The Islamic lunar month of fasting Ramadan ends, with the Eid al-Fitr holiday from May 13-15. (Global)

* May 13-16 – The 51st Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum is held in Singapore in May, instead of in Davos in January, under the theme ‘The Great Reset’. (Global)

June 2021:

* June – The 47th G7 Summit will be held in June in the UK, while it holds the G7 Presidency. (UK)

June – The 2021 French Municipal Elections will be held in June, their second postponement. (France)

October 2021:

October 22 – Japan is scheduled to hold a general election for the House of Representatives. (Japan)

* October 30-31 – The G20 Leaders’ Summit is held in Rome, Italy, under the Presidency of Italy for the first time. (Italy, Global)

October 31 – NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency launch the next-generation James Webb Space Telescope, a successor to the Hubble Space Telescope. (Global)

November 2021:
