January 1 – The 50th anniversary of the United Kingdom, the Republic of the Ireland and Denmark entering the European Economic Community, which later becomes the European Union. (EU)

January 1 – The 40th anniversary of the migration of the ARPANET to TCP/IP is officially completed,  considered to be the beginning of the true Internet. (Global)

January 27 – The 50th anniversary of the ending of U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War with the signing of the Paris Peace Accords. (USA)

February 2023:

February 5 – The 20th anniversary of U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell speaking to the United Nations presenting the case for a military invasion of Iraq, later discovered to be misleading and false. (US, Iraq, Global)

* February 22 – The 1400th solar anniversary of Prophet Muhammad in Madinah changing direction of prayer (qibla) in Islam from Jerusalem in the Levant to Makkah in Arabia. (OIC, Saudi Arabia, Global)

February 26 – The 30th anniversary of the first World Trade Center bombing in New York, USA, by Al Qaeda. (USA)

April 2023:

* April – India set to become world’s most populated country at 1.43 billion, overtaking China. (India, China)

April – Voyager 2 is predicted to overtake Pioneer 10 as the second farthest spacecraft from Earth. (Global)

April 3 – The 50th anniversary of the first handheld mobile phone call made by Martin Cooper of Motorola in New York City, US. (USA, Global)

April 3 – The 75th anniversary of United States President Harry S. Truman signing the Marshall Plan, which authorises $5 billion in aid for 16 countries. (USA, Global)

May 14 – The 50th anniversary of the launch of Skylab, the United States’ first space station. (US, Global)

May 14 – The 75th anniversary of the Israeli Declaration of Independence with David Ben-Gurion as its first prime minister. (Israel/Palestine)

May 15 – The 75th anniversary of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War, with the British Mandate of Palestine officially terminated. (Israel/Palestine)

June 1 – The 25th anniversary of establishing the European Central Bank, replacing the European Monetary Institute. (EU)

August 7 – The 25th anniversary of the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. (USA)

* September 12-30 – The 78th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 78) will open on September 12, the SDG Summit on September 19-20, with the first day of the high-level General Debate on September 25. (UN, Global)

September 13 – The 30th anniversary of Oslo I Accord with PLO leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin shake hands in Washington, D.C. after signing a peace accord. (Israel/ Palestine, USA)

October 20 – The 50th anniversary of the Sydney Opera House. (Australia)
